Friday Night

Confession: It was not so sunny in Florida this past weekend. Actually it poured nonstop :( My boyfriend's friends from NC came to visit him, while they went out and had guys night I curled up on the couch with a glass of cab, some cheese, dark chocolate and caught up on my new favorite show Scandal.

If you haven't started watching Scandal, you should. My friend Kenny recommended it to me and thanks to him I am addicted!  There is so much drama and suspense, which of course I love. It is a little like Law & Order mixed with Grey's Anatomy (but think of a lawyer version)...so start watching it On Demand or just go to ABC.com and watch full episodes!

My treats:)

Gouda Robusto

My Favorite!

Hey don't judge, it was a long week at work...plus I went to the gym earlier that evening.

Girl Crush

I'll admit I watched every episode of Laguna Beach and the Hills. My friend Caitlin and I would watch Laguna Beach together in High School and have this discussion about it in class the next day. Yes I'm serious!  I have always had this girl crush on Lauren Conrad, but it has grown over the last few years. Of course she is gorgeous, but I am more crushing on her clothes, hair and makeup. She always seems to look so perfect!

While I am still a young women in my twenties, still figuring out my style, I do look up to her as one of my style icons. Her style is elegant and girly, which is me just not with her closet! I wish I could look that polished every time someone snapped a picture of me, but lets get real if you don't warn me you are taking a picture it could look something like this...

Rather than...

My sister got me Lauren Conrad's book 'Style' for my birthday and I love it. She tells you what every woman should have in her closet, tips on finding the perfect pair of jeans, and how to get her perfect beach waves. (long hair I miss you ). Her book is simple and realistic. Also, she tells you to shop at Forever 21 for T-shirts instead of paying $$$ for one. Again, realistic!

She makes me jealous...

Who is your style icon/ girl crush?

Around the World in 80 Sips

This past weekend my friend, Erin, came to visit. We meet my Sophomore year of college and have been great friends ever since! Before her visit, I was trying to think of where I should take her. I usually take my visitors to my favorite places, but I wanted to try something new.

I found a wine tasting in Miami and immediately bought tickets for a great price (thanks Groupon!). Bottlenotes hosted Around the World in 80 Sips. As we walked around and viewed the wine selection we sipped red wine, white wine, and champagne from all around the globe! We mainly had wine from Italy, Spain, France, Australia, and California. There wasn't a certain type of anyone there, but it was a good mix of young, old, middle age, artsy, hipster, and people like me. We were most likely the youngest ones there, but we stayed classy, had fun and learned about the wines we tried. I'm a red wine type of girl, but I do like Pinot Grigio, Moscoto, and Champagne. The wine wasn't the only thing tasty, they had artisanal  cheeses, sausage, pickles, and gelato. The dark chocolate gelato went perfect with a red :)

A couple of my favorites are:
Dirty Blonde Cocktail- Blood Orange Mimosa  (sold at Target)
Vigne Regali Rosa Regale Brachettod d'Acqui DOCO 2010
promisQous Red
Monogamy Cabernet Sauvignon
Middle Sister Sweet & Sassy Mocasto
Castello Banfi BelnerO Proprietor's Reserve

The Sponsors.

Love these bottles!

My favorites!

Did I mention we got to keep the wine glasses?

The only thing I didn't like about the event was the lighting; because I could not take great pictures! Oh well, at least they are decent. I bet you're about to go to the store and buy some wine right now...well write down my favorites and see if the store has them! Enjoy! xoxo

A Day With Dolphins...

While it was a gorgeous day in South Florida, instead of being a beach bum my boyfriend and I went to the Miami Sequarium. I am not a huge animal person, but I do love sea animals. There is just something about dolphins, whales, sea lions, and sharks that intrigues me, I could watch them for hours!

Our first exhibit was the Dolphins and the Dolphin Show. I was highly impressed with these trained dolphins with their tricks, flips, and jumps. Here are a couple pictures I took...

Also, I went to the Killer Whale show...
Then the Sea Lion show, which was super cute!
The Seaquarium had a couple different shows, animal feedings, and exhibits. Besides dolphins, a killer whale, and sea lions I saw flamings, parrots, sea turtles, crocodiles, sharks, and a ton of fish! Here are a couple randoms...

And yes I did take ALL of these pictures via phone. Pretty impressive right?

The Miami Sequarium is a must when living or visiting Miami. You will spend about 5 hours here and prepared to get a little wet...dolphins like to splash! The Seaquarium is in Key Biscayne, a gorgeous town east of Miami. With the bright blue water and the Miami skyline...the Seaquarium is in a perfect location.

Another great thing about Miami, the views!
The view from the Seaquarium...

What is an Easter basket?

When I was little my parents would fill a basket with Easter candy and hide it. On Easter morning my parents told me that the Easter bunny had came and I had to go find my basket...sounds like most Easter mornings when you were a child right? A couple weeks ago I was reminiscing Easter as a child and I wondered why I still couldn't have a Easter basket (mainly because I wanted candy). Even though I am 3 states away from my parents, couldn't my boyfriend give me an Easter basket? So I proposed the idea to my boyfriend, Guillermo, and he answered with a shocking question..."What is an Easter basket?"

You may know that my boyfriend is from Peru and spent his childhood there. So when we talk about our childhood, you better believe that we have very different versions. What is an Easter basket? I thought everyone in the world had an Easter basket when they were a child, guess I was wrong. So I asked Guillermo how he celebrated Easter.

Easter in Peru is not about the Easter bunny nor a holiday for children, it is a religious holiday. Obviously Easter is a religious holiday. but American culture has made it about something else ( of course). In Peru, families go to church and usually have a nice family dinner after. Which is what Americans do but with all the Easter bunny madness!

This was all very interesting to me and made me think of how different cultures spend their holidays. Throughout the 2 years of dating a Peruvian I have realized some major cultural differences. While American culture does focus on the material aspects of a holiday, other cultures focus on family...which is really what it should be. Another lesson I have learned from my amazing boyfriend!

Easter Sunday

So as the weekend approached, I was excited to sleep in, catch up on my shows, eat carbs, tan, and hang out with friends. However...I woke up Friday morning with a sore throat, then by mid afternoon at work I noticed my left eye was red...I came to the realization that I had pink eye and laryngitis. Thanks to babysitting kids, I ALWAYS get sick! So after laying in bed all Saturday, Sunday morning came and I decided I wanted to go do something!

Since it was Easter morning, I put on a dress and my boyfriend and I went to brunch at The Floridian. The Floridian is a diner on Las Olas. Las Olas is a street filled with restaurants, art galleries, ice cream shops, boutiques, and little shops. Very touristy!

The Floridian is a diner that plays oldies music and has a huge menu. Anything you want, they have and at a reasonable price! From breakfast food to dinner food to a bottle of Dom Perignon. They fresh squeeze their orange juice (hello it's FL after all), bake their own desserts, and have like 20 different types of eggs benedict! Also, they are open 24 hours a day! Can it get better than that?

Bloginggg

So my attempt to blog over the past year has failed! However, since I have started my career in the Social Media world, I read and write blogs all the time! I blog for work so mind as well blog for personal use right?

Those of you who don't know, I live in the beautiful sunshine state, more importantly south Florida! Over the past couple months of living here, I have done a lot of exciting activities and been to amazing places. I don't think you could ever run out of things to do in south FL. So I would like to share my experiences with you and probably make you want to visit :)
